As part of the Spanish language courses, last weekend we went to discover the city of Zaragoza, its gastronomy, history and culture. How different it is from Barcelona and the region of Catalonia!
Depending on the Spanish level the students have, we divided the group into two: Some of them visited the central food market, the oldest bakery in Zaragoza and the famous Basilica del Pilar. The advanced group participated in a guided tour (in Spanish, of course!) throughout the historic center.
Did you know that its historical downtown is the second biggest in Spain? That the Basilica del Pilar is the only Christian building in the world having Taoist symbology? Or that the Aljafería Palace is the Arab palace located in the northernmost part of the world?
We also had the chance to taste the famous churros con chocolate (delicious!) for breakfast and typical dishes of the region for lunch, like migas! Migas is a dish that includes day-old bread soaked in water, garlic, chorizo and bacon served with grapes. It’s really worth to taste! And with our stomachs full and satisfied, we returned to Barcelona.
