Last Friday we visited the Parc del Laberint! An amazing park that is hidden in the Horta neighborhood.
It’s a historical garden and the oldest of its kind, with an important labyrinth, which gives its name.
It started in the 18th century following clearly neoclassical lines, filling the garden with Greek and Roman myths such as Echo and Narcissus, and harmonious figures all through the way. In the mid-19th century, the Desvalls family’s descendants decided to expand the garden in the romantic style and added other figures, numerous flower beds, small squares, trees, and even a waterfall. Both styles are present in many shapes and perfectly blended with nature. In 1967, it was ceded to the Barcelona Townhall, so now this landscape artwork is open to the public.
Our Spring 2020 students had the opportunity to explore the beautiful neoclassical and romantic garden, the hidden walkways, admire the waterfall, and of course, complete the maze!! It is highly recommended to take a picnic and spend all the afternoon; if you want to relax this is the place, surrounded by all kinds of flowers, plants, amazing fountains and statues!
