Mercè Festivity 2019

Once again our city transforms itself and prepare for the infinitive events that take place during 5 intense days. From 20^th to 24^th of September the city will accommodate diverse shows all along these days where everybody will have room. This annual festival is full of activities, performance, shows and concerts and most of them are based in the popular culture of Catalonia.

This year is the 50^th anniversary of els Castellers of Barcelona (human towers) and they will celebrate inviting others groups of castellers to build together different kind of towers. Guests invited are Minyons from Terrassa and Castelleres of Vilafranca.

“Born street food” will be another reclaim for these days. If you feel need gastronomy and music at the same time, do not miss different stands that will open for you in Pla de Palau Square – renowned chefs will delight you from Friday 20^th until Sunday 22^nd to enjoy this Mercè festivity, and of course all along with music.

The old brewery Estrella Damm will be another hotpoint where will take place many concerts. (Saturday and Sunday)

The downtown of the city will host endless activities addressed to all ages from the first day of the festivity, Friday 20^th, until the last day, Wednesday 24^th. Big heads performance, dragons and beasts, correfoc (fire runners), Grallers (People playing a specific wind instrument), Sardanes (the typical Catalonia dance), will be some of the traditional activities that will fill our city.

Music will sound almost in every corner of the city, but the final bang will be the fireworks in Maria Cristina Avenue, it always has place last day and it means the end of the Mercè festivity.
