The spring semester in Granada is coming to an end, and we can finally announce the winner of this semester’s photography contest: Eli West (Tufts University).
Eli submitted a stunning photo of his climbing the Mulhacén (the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula, second highest in Spain) in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
The picture was taken on a bright February day when Eli took his dad on a hiking trip around Granada. Such a bright day that, if you pay close attention to the picture, you can see the Mediterranean Sea behind the mountain, and Morocco (180 miles away) on the far end.
Not only is this a great shot, but it goes to show the wonders of a unique place like Granada: pretty nice winter weather, ski resorts, and sunny beaches within a one-hour ride. And Africa, just around the corner.
Congratulations, Eli!
