Alasdair Gray: From the Personal to the Universal: Through 22 February, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum

A major retrospective to mark the 80th birthday of one of Scotland's most revered artists. More than 100 works are on display, many loaned from private collections, featuring pieces from Gray's student days to the present.

The Ballet of the Palette: Beginning 20 February, Gallery of Modern Art

Twentieth-century paintings from the gallery collection.

Jeely Jars and Seeing Stars: Glasgow's Love Affair With the Movies: Beginning 12 February, Mitchell Library

A multimedia exhibition celebrating Glasgow's history, and subsequent love affair, with film.

Alexander Millar: Working Man – The Homecoming: Through 27 February, Scotland Street School Museum

Twee paintings of working men and women of Glasgow, intended to pay homage to the industrial heritage of the region.

An Evening with Noel Fielding: 8 February, King's Theater, 7:30pm

First solo live tour from the star of The Mighty Boosh and Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy. Expect a mix of Noel's unique brand of stand up comedy, live animation, music and some of Fielding's best-known TV characters.

When Barbara from Bearsden finds out that an American TV producer is in town to find 'The Real Hoosewives fae Glasgow' she gets right on the case. Musical featuring 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', 'I'm So Excited' and lots more.

Frank-Gemmill (horn), O'Dea (violin) and Cohen (piano) play Koechlin's 6 Petites Pieces '; Thurlow's Orion and Brahms's Horn Trio in E flat major, Op 40.

Edinburgh Quartet: 12 February, Cottiers Theatre, 6:30pm

Scotland's premier string quartet was founded in 1960 and maintains close relationships with composers all over the UK, as well as playing dozens of concerts a year in venues all over the world.

Glasgow Philharmonia: 20 February, City Halls, 7:30pm

The Glasgow-based orchestra for young professional musicians was founded in 2012 by conductor Ross Gunning.
