The end of semester North and South Island photo and video competitions took place the past couple weeks, coinciding with the end of classes for semester one students The judges had their work cut out for them to choose the category and overall winners, with stunning entries that were the best quality we have seen yet! Of course it doesn't hurt that New Zealand has such spectacular scenery to snap photos of.
This year, the photo with the largest number of Facebook likes by the end of judging was awarded peoples choice, and students got into the competitive spirit, sharing their photos with friends and family at home to gain votes.
These photo competitions are one of our favourite things to run as staff, as it is an opportunity to see our country through the eyes of young and adventurous students who are here to see everything they possibly can. It shows. There are many photographs shared from remote corners of New Zealand that Arcadia staff have yet to make it to! The videos did not disappoint either, with Jay Burnett's winning film making several of the judges cry!
Here is a teaser, but you can see all of the entries on our Facebook page. Trust me, it is well worth your time.
