Jesus Christ Superstar

- Oct. 17th and 18th -

On these days, at 8.45 p.m., will be staged Jesus Christ Superstar, directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo and starring with Ted Neeley. The musical will be set at Teatro Verdi, near Santa Croce church. Tickets are available on theatre website.

Marina Abramovic

- until Jan. 20th -

The Cleaner is a contemporary art event by Marina Abramovic, one of the most famous artist of our days. The exhibition mixes some of the best works of the artist in order to review Abramovic’s career, form the ‘60s to 2000s. It takes place at Palazzo Strozzi; more information on the website.

Up and down the Arno valley… and much more

Oct. 21st- (reservation required)

A long walk through old country trails that will take you in Ontignano, a very small town near Fiesole. 
Fiesole is a famous town, born during the Etruscan period. It is set on the hill that’s right in front of the one where Piazzale Michelangelo and San Miniato al Monte church are set; so, you will find one of the best skyline of Florence. Thus Fiesole has been conquered by the Romans, it is possible to see many typical ruins of the Roman empire, such as the theatre, which is still in use during the summer.

Park of Pratolino

- Oct. 19th, 20th and 21st; 26th, 27th and 28th –

An amazing garden wanted by Francesco I de’ Medici and realized by Buontalenti. The idea was to create a beautiful Villa which mixed art, nature and science; the garden is full of artworks created by the most known Italian artists of the time, such as Cellini, Giambologna, Cioli, and so on. At that time the garden was known as “the wonders garden”. Later on, the Villa was uninhabited till it was bought by a Russian prince, Pavel Demidoff. Only in 1981, the city of Florence bought the Villa in order to avoid that it was parceled out. Anyway, the Chapel, the statues and the other work arts can still be visited.
How to reach it? By bus 25, from Via La Pira, next to Piazza San Marco.

Da Vinci experience

- Until Nov. 4 -

A multimedia show that lead the spectator into an incredible voyage through Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpieces. Thanks to the 3D images, people are projected into his works and can observe all the details. The exhibition is set in Santo Stefano al Ponte church, very close to Ponte Vecchio.

Hot air balloon festival

- Oct. 20th and 21st -

The Festival delle Mongolfiere will take place at Ippodromo del Visarno (Cascine Park) and it will be possible to jump into the hot air balloon and see Florence from above.

Banksy

- from Oct. 19th to Feb. 24th -

Banksy. This is not a photo opportunity is a Pop Art exhibition set in Palazzo Medici Riccardi and it’s a collection of the artist’s most popular works.

The light side by Gloria Pizzilli

- From Oct. 3rd to Nov. 7th 

A contemporary art exhibition that is set in Via dei Macci 85r; it was organized by Florence University of the Arts students.
Gloria Pizzilli took part to many live painting shows and to many international exhibitions, she also won the Award of Excellence, by CommunicationArts and the Merit Award.

Chinese rice paper and paintings

- until Oct. 18th -

The expo, set in Via Camillo Cavour 18, is a collection of paintings made by many Chinese artists; the artworks are painted on rice paper also known as Xuan paper. The exhibition was organized by University of Anhui.

Expo by Sauro Cavallini

- until Oct. 30 -

Set at Accademia delle Arti e del Disegno, the exhibition is dedicated to Sauro Cavallini, who spent his life studying dimensions, curves and forms.
