This Summer we welcome, with open arms, a nice group of UCD STEM Summer Research students back to Ireland! It has been a year and we have missed travelling on the journey of study abroad with wonderful people!
A big part of our programming in Ireland is our Co-Curricular events which fall under the following themes; Active Ireland, Local Ireland, Imagined Ireland, Spiritual Ireland, Global Ireland.
This Summer we have chosen two events which we believe encapsulate all of the above
Experience Gaelic Games
This Summer we invite you to try this unique Irish adventure while you’re here. ‘Live like a local’ as you learn about and play our native, indigenous Gaelic Games with Experience Gaelic Games.
Make sure that you join us for a few hours of fantastic fun and see if you fall in love with the sports that over 5 million people of us are crazy about! 100% of Arcadia students have always left with a smile on their face and a new found love of the GAA.
The GAA experts who will host us are Experience Gaelic Games and were set up in 2009 and have facilitated Arcadia University students for over a decade. Their message is always that Irish people have an incredible passion for the games, a passion instilled in us from the very moment we were born. It is not solely ‘sport’ to the Irish, it is a living expression of our unique ancient Gaelic culture. The goal is to allow you to immerse yourself in our local Gaelic culture, support our local community ventures and allow for the support of sustainable communities.
We will transport you from UCD to the sports facilities of Experience Gaelic Games, where you will meet Arcadia staff and their wonderful coaches and see can you make a comparison with any of your favourite sports. And to top it all off, go home with memories to last a lifetime, breath-taking pictures and unbelievable stories.
Explore Dublin by Bicycle
Join Arcadia staff and an experienced Dublin tour guide for an exciting bike ride highlighting the best of Dublin. Ride past Dublin’s most famous attractions and historical sites.
Learn about the rich history of the city from an expert guide. This is really the best way to see the city of Dublin. We will take you through the most beautiful and interesting characteristics of Dublin’s fair city and learn its rich, strange history as well as the strange quirks that make up Dublin’s culture.
A great way to connect with your fellow UCD STEM students and Arcadia staff, orientate yourself and have lots of fun. Helmets will be provided!
