The Queens University Belfast students arrived this week and in their honor we have compiled a list of the best things to do in Belfast this semester!
Just next to Queens University are the beautiful botanic gardens, stretching over 28 acres. A great place for an outdoor concert in the summer time, the Botanic gardens are also home to the Ulster Museum. The Museum is free and give a great insight into the history and society of Northern Ireland.
Each semester we bring a group of students from Dublin to the Northern Ireland filming locations of Game of Thrones. But as the Queens University students are already so close they can hop on a Game of Thrones tour bus and spend a day exploring Westeros!
Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage site, the epic Giant’s Causeway is an absolute must visit when in Belfast. Its takes up to two hours to get there from Belfast but there are lots of tours going and every semester Arcadia include it as part of the Belfast and Antrim coast weekend.
There are some great venues in Belfast, including the stunning Grand Opera House, the Lyric Theatre and the MAC. If you’re into sports you can also check out the Belfast Giants at the Odyssey arena along with international music acts.
Belfast’s most visited attraction. The Titanic Experience is not a museum; it’s an interactive visitor experience telling the story of the world’s most famous ship, built in the Belfast docklands over 100 years ago. The Titanic Experience is great fun, and for the Game of Thrones fans you can even see the buildings where they have the HBO sets – no access allowed unfortunately!
Enjoy the semester in Queens!
