For the fourth time running University College Cork (UCC) has been voted University of the Year by the prestigious U.K. Sunday Times Newspaper.

Arcadia University has a long standing relationship and a fond love for both the University and our partners at UCC. By long standing I mean that we have been sending students there for over twenty years.

UCC was established in 1845 as one of three Queen’s Colleges - at Cork, Galway and Belfast. These new colleges were established in the reign of Queen Victoria, and named after her. Queen's College, Cork (QCC) was established to provide access to higher education in the Irish province of Munster.

There are a few reasons why UCC is so popular. Students have always loved the location of the University. It is located on the Western Road only a short distance from the busy Patrick Street and the quant River Lee. Cork City offers so much choice in cafés, restaurants, nightlife, cinemas, theatre, music venues, sports facilities and cultural events.

Students often quickly discover that the best way to meet Irish people is through clubs and societies. Clubs and Societies are a huge part of campus life at UCC and offer something for everyone. There are boxing clubs, Italian societies, LGBT, film, poker, Gaelic Football, dance and much more.

Many staff at the International Office have supported students for years. They offer welcome programmes and academic support when students are frantically registering for classes at the University. They seem to recognise the needs of visiting students and the system they are coming from. It is quite easy for students to feel a sense of belonging at UCC and many do return.

We love UCC!
