Free summer events are a great way to engage with the local community and explore new areas on a budget. Loads of these will take place all across Ireland during the warmer months, and our students are encouraged to attend.
Science
On Thursday 20th of June, the Science Gallery of Dublin will host a free event, the Perfection Launch Party. The exhibition seeks to answer the question: Is striving for perfection a positive goal with modern day cultural pressures and increasing waves of science and technology? The exhibition will also dive into ideas relating to scientific precision, body augmentation and ‘perfect imperfection’. Perfection will be open from 21st of June until 6th of October, with launch party free registry available for sign-up Here
Celebrating the LGBTQ Community in Ireland and beyond
Another free event taking place in Dublin is the LGBTQ+ Pride Parade & Festival, on 29th of June beginning at 1:00 PM. The parade will begin at O’Connell Street and Parnell Square, following a route throughout the City Centre. Tens of thousands of people will gather to walk in or support the parade in bright colors. Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s first openly gay Taoiseach, has proudly walked in the Pride Parade before. The free event will feature celebration, vibrant colors, and community engagement.

Sport, Roller Coasters & Music
As for our students at UL, Limerick offers plenty of free events this summer. The National Football Exhibition will take place throughout the 14th of June-28th of June on Fridays at University of Limerick to celebrate 60 years of Ireland’s participation in the UEFA Champions League. Also in Limerick (even though it costs a few euros to get in) is the Funderland event which will take place through the 16th of June, featuring rollercoasters and loads of other attractions. On the 14th of June, a free music therapy and mental health recovery Seminar will be held at the University of Limerick. Experts will speak on the significance music therapy can play in recovering from mental health issues and provide an atmosphere of acceptance and normalization of mental health.
Students are always encouraged and welcomed to participate in cultural, practical and charitable events during their Summer sessions in Ireland.
