We have been reminded on so many occasions that good preparation is the key to a successful student event or activity. Last weekend our Irish Programmes Officer, Kate Jones took to the hills of the very scenic Howth Head to explore and prepare a good trail for our upcoming student trip there.
Very soon Kate will be joined by our Trinity, UCD, IPA and Maynooth students as they leave the lovely little fishing village of Howth and head towards Howth Head. This is not an altogether easy climb but will allow students an opportunity to explore a scenic part of Ireland in the North Coastal Dublin area as well as take a step away from the City and breath in some good sea air. Our theme here is Active Ireland.
Students will be taken along the harbour before climbing away from the village around the Nose of Howth and onto the clifftops. A perfect opportunity to take in the stunning views of Lambay Island and Ireland’s Eye, and be overwhelmed by the heady scent of coconut from the bright yellow gorse on the heath. The Baily Lighthouse – the last of Ireland’s lighthouses to become automated - should come into view (weather permitting) before they ascend towards the car park at ‘The Summit’ and return to Howth Village along a path running parallel to the outward route.
Kate looks forward to meeting all those who have registered for this event.
