Thanksgiving is a day for giving thanks. Black Friday & Cyber Monday are days for getting great deals. We here at Arcadia University have decided to celebrate Giving Tuesday this year, a day to give to those less fortunate than ourselves. 

On December 2nd we will invite students into the Dublin Centre, and locations in Cork and Galway, to donate items of food, clothing, books, etc., which will be sent to our chosen charity, the Simon Community.

The Simon Community is a nationwide Irish charity that works to prevent and address homelessness in Ireland. They do fantastic job in helping and supporting the homeless in transitioning into independent living and assist in providing permanent supported housing. 

Having witnessed homelessness here in Dublin, we decided that the Simon Community is a charity that we would love to support through Giving Tuesday. While Giving Tuesday is a relatively new concept in Ireland, we hope that by promoting it through Arcadia University, we can bring awareness to both the day and the charity, and enable it to grow in popularity over the coming years.
