During our recent Spring 2015 orientations we invited some of our larger groups of students to learn about and sample Irish Gaelic games. The two main Gaelic games are Gaelic Football & Hurling, both of which are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).

With the help of Arcadia staff and local community sports leaders, students were able to embrace the chill of January and learn the basic skills of Hurling, one of the world’s oldest field sports which has been played in some form in Ireland for more than 800 years. Students also had the opportunity to learn about the sheer pace of Gaelic Football, a form of football derived from traditional Irish ball games.

Well done to everyone who participated. You did us proud!!
