Another Talk of the Town is here and promises you a neat and singularly original poetry night with a unique guest! Maria Ferguson is an award-winning poet and playwright from Essex. Her work examines her working-class roots, and how femininity is constructed by society. Her debut one-woman show, Fat Girls Don't Dance, and her follow-up, Essex Girl both won prestigious awards. Her debut poetry collection Alright, Girl was Highly Commended in the Forward Prizes.
Her work has been described as both personal and also easy to relate to since she shares her experiences in a quite realistic way. She invites you to understand the multidimensional transition from girl to womanhood as she shares and performs her poems. You can learn more about Maria in her personal blog!
Join Maria on the 8th of November from 18:15 to 19:45 for an evening of poetry with a free pint at Arcadia's Talk of the Town! As some of her poems reflect on her time working in a pub and the venue for Talk of the Town is a perfect one. The event will be hosted in our favourite spot, the King and Queen Pub -1 Foley St. Fitzrovia W1W 6DL.
