With the Summer semester just around the corner the extra curricular excursions have been released. If you haven't already, head to your Arcadia Passport account to sign up to some exciting events.
Our dedicated faculty have also planned a handful of tours, taking in some of their favourite spots in London. Not only do you get to see some of London's hidden gems you will learn a little bit about why they are so significant to the locals. And the best thing is they are all free!
To sign up to any of these faculty led tours head to the Summer Facebook Group.
Dr. Chris McMillan will take you to where the magic of the 2012 Olympic games took place. Now known as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this modern green space is the biggest park built in Europe for 150 years. With over 65km of waterways and 111 acres of woods this grand park is a must see for anyone interested in sport, history and architecture. Or those of you who just want to stroll and soak up the summer sun. (Please note we cannot guarantee the sun).
Join Dr. Laurence Scott in one of London's most beautiful locations, Keats House, now a museum dedicated to the Romantic poet. This will be followed by a picnic (wether dependent) on Hampstead Heath and a discussion about the great literature that has been associated with the location. BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic)
Dr. Richard Maguire has chosen to visit London's East End where street art allows us to see the grimy roads and hipster joints in a new way, from plastic mushrooms to tiny road art. This tour will persuade you to look back and catch a fleeting glimpse of things that were not there before and won’t be for long. Artists include Banksy and Eine, as well as untagged, anonymous works.
