If you’ve popped into the Center in the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed an unusual traffic pattern: Center-based programs were on Reading Week break and we were hosting a succession of visitors from US campuses stretching from California to Massachusetts, Texas to Illinois; we also hosted a Workshop for London-based US universities providing freshman programming.
But this week, things got back to normal, classes started again and the watery sun finally coaxed a few daffodils and crocuses out of the ground: Spring’s round the corner and the remainder of the semester will whoosh away so fast you won’t know what’s hit you.
Now’s the time to review your bucket list and get serious about where you still want to go and what you still want to see. If you want to check out some fresh air, greenery and early flowers, try a walk in London’s parks - Holland Park near Palace Court is great; for Redclifffe residents a walk through the Brompton Cemetery is close and – believe it or not – both pleasant and interesting. Thoresby residents could hop on a 214 bus to Camden Town then walk over to Primrose Hill for great views over London.
For all of you direct enrol students, the rhythm is very different: you are almost at the end of your classes and will soon be on Easter break. But please remember that I’d love to see you for lunch this week here at the Center. Please see the Facebook group for details.
Do you have anything you’d like to share with me directly? As Arcadia’s Regional & London Center Director, I would love to hear your views on the high points and the challenges of your semester at one of London’s universities.
I look forward to meeting any of you London-based direct enrol students this Wednesday. Come and share your experiences, over a slice of pizza.
If you can’t make it due to schedule conflicts, please email me with comments on leunerp@arcadia.edu.
