I wanted to share with you all a beautiful story about friendship (and scholarships).
At the start of each semester in Australia we have students from all over the United states of America and the world meet for the first time at our Arcadia Orientation in Melbourne. Over the years I have watched as many of these very first meetings have forged beautiful, lifelong friendships. I am always blown away by how easy it seems for some students to make these remarkable friendships within the Arcadia group.
This semester I watched happily as two of my University of New South Wales (UNSW) students, Remi Lassiter and Monica Lungeanu, were naturally drawn together at orientation and a beautiful, authentic friendship was born. In their short time in Australia Monica and Remi have already done lots of travelling together and supported each other through the ups and downs of living abroad. They are inseparable.
So, I was absolutely thrilled to hear that when UNSW was awarding one of their two scholarships that they offer every semester, that they split one of the scholarships between Remi and Monica. The staff at UNSW had no idea that Remi and Monica were such good friends when reviewing their scholarship applications. It was so close that they had called in extra staff to review the two applications and still could not decide on a clear winner. In the end, it was decided that the scholarship should be shared. Remi and Monica are now not only sharing their UNSW semester abroad together, but they are also sharing their share of the $5000 (AUS) UNSW Surf Camp Scholarship too.
What a way to seal a friendship!
