  3. Please list some examples of King's modules that appeal to you, including Health and Society, and include: a) How these modules correspond with your current program of study b) How these modules will contribute towards your long-term career aspirations.
  4. What aspects of King's life do you hope to get involved in outside of your academic commitments?

London School of Economics (LSE)

As a part of your application, you are required to tell us about the following:

  1. Your academic journey so far. Your response should be about your experiences in your first year of undergraduate study, such as the courses you have taken; subject areas of particular interest; extracurricular activities related to your academic interests, and any challenges you may have faced. (Max 300 words)
  2. Why you have chosen to apply to the General Course and what you hope to gain from it? Your response should discuss your motivation for undertaking a year abroad and how you believe the General Course will help you achieve both your academic and personal/professional ambitions. (Max 300 words)
  3. The courses you would like to study at LSE and why you are interested in them. (Max 300 words)

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

In a few paragraphs, please describe your interest in studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, concentrating on how your time at the RCS will impact you as a student, as a professional, and as an artist.

St. Mary's University

Please write a paragraph on why you are applying to St. Mary's specifically.

STEM Summer Research Placements

All undergraduate Summer Research placement applicants should submit a brief interest statement along with their other application requirements via Passport. This will be essential to gauge each candidate’s aptitude for research. Please be sure to list any pertinent lab science courses, field study and undergraduate research experience.

Applicants must indicate a preferred research topic and two alternates. A complete list of research topics for each location is available on the program page.

University of Oxford

In a few paragraphs, please describe your reasons for applying to Oxford. As the Personal Essay is an important part of the review process, please submit an essay that is at least a page in length and include detailed and specific examples behind your choice of program.

Students should rather concentrate on information including:

  • What you can bring to the Oxford community
  • Why the tutorial system and Oxford style of education draw you to Oxford
  • Your passion for your area of study and intellectual engagement
  • Academic goals for your time abroad
  • Future career and educational aspirations
  • Personal interests and experiences which are directly related to your application to study at Oxford

Simply saying that you wish to attend Oxford because it is prestigious and you feel you deserve a placement because of your academic performance will not be well-received. Instead, be specific, be serious, be engaging, and - above all - proofread!
