As Arcadia's newest Study Abroad Advisor, Freddy is eager to empower students from diverse academic backgrounds to discover programs that align with their studies, career ambitions, and personal growth.
A proud alumnus of Arcadia's Gateway to Success/ACT 101 program, Freddy hails from North Philadelphia. He graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and English, impacting the university community. As a student, he was a Resident Assistant, the student chair for the Gateway to Success program, and an active member of the theatre department. His talent and dedication earned him three finalist spots in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, where he also won Best Reading in a Ten-Minute Play.
Arcadia's study abroad opportunities sparked Freddy's passion for global education. His first experience, a Preview course on immigration, took him to Sicily, Italy—his first time traveling by plane. This transformative journey inspired him to spend a semester at the University of Cape Town in South Africa during his junior year.
Studying abroad exposed Freddy to new cultures, perspectives, and challenges that reshaped his outlook on life. He learned to navigate unfamiliar environments, continued to develop resilience, and celebrate the beauty of diversity. These experiences pushed him to become more solution-oriented, refine his financial management skills, and take greater ownership of his future.
After five years away, Freddy has returned home—ready for his next adventure. It's only fitting that he finds himself back at Arcadia, a place that profoundly shaped him. Now, as a Study Abroad Advisor, he's eager to guide the next generation in discovering the world and, in turn, discovering themselves.
