José Sergio Pajares Nievas is a native of Granada. Languages and cultures are two of his greatest passions. After completing a Degree in Translation and Interpreting (UGR), he decided to go for a Master’s Degree in Education (UGR) and a Master’s Degree in Medical and Healthcare Translation (UJI). He is also a sworn translator-interpreter, a researcher, and an expert in document examination.
Sergio is not new to Arcadia. He served as support staff for our center in Granada after graduating from the UGR. During his professional career, he has also worked as an English teacher and instructor, referee for academic journals, housing coordinator, and HR advisor. He also volunteers as a translator for different NGOs.
He loves ancient history, gardening, and plays the Spanish mandolin in a group. He also loves identifying the similarities and differences between languages and cultures. For him, the most rewarding part of working with students is to see how they discover a new culture and are able to feel like home. As Student Life Coordinator, Sergio is always ready to help students with everything they need, look for new activities and places to visit, and show them the unparalleled beauty of Granada, Andalusia, and Spain.
