Monique has dedicated nearly 20 years to higher education, passionately supporting students in achieving their educational goals.
Originally from South Africa, Monique moved to the U.S. at 12 and earned her BA in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. While studying, she served as an International Residential Advisor and worked in the study abroad office, advising students and assisting visiting scholars.
Monique spent a year studying abroad at Royal Holloway University of London, where she fell in love with London and Europe. After graduating, she returned to the UK to work for the US-UK Fulbright Commission, eventually becoming Interim Awards Director.
Before moving to New Zealand, Monique lived in Sydney, Australia, supporting U.S. study abroad students and working at the University of Technology Sydney. Most recently, she managed Student Support and Scholarships at Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland for over seven years.
Now at Arcadia, Monique is thrilled to return to her international education roots. Having lived in New Zealand for nearly a decade, she looks forward to helping Arcadia students make the most of their study abroad experiences, showcasing the beautiful landscapes, and sharing the rich Māori and Pacific cultures. She believes in the transformative power of study abroad and is eager to guide students through their New Zealand adventure.
In her free time, Monique enjoys outdoor activities like beach trips and hiking with her family. She's also passionate about gardening, growing veggies, and has recently embraced pilates.
Monique holds an MSc in Psychology (Clinical and Mental Health) from Sussex University and a PgC in Applied Business (Leadership) from Unitec.
