Dr. Margarita Carretero-González is a Senior Lecturer in English Literature at the English and German Department of the University of Granada (Spain) and Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics (UK). She coordinates the research group ENLI (Estudios de Narrativa en Lengua Inglesa) of the University of Granada. She has published nationally and internationally on English fantasy fiction, narratives by women, animal ethics and cultural representations of other-than-human nature, using the critical lens provided by ecocriticism, ecofeminism and critical animal studies. She has been involved in the Study Abroad programme of Arcadia University in Granada since 2010, as instructor of the course “Mediterranean Cultures and Civilizations - The Great Mosaic”,(2010-2017), and “Cultural Diversity in Contemporary Spain: Migrations, Minorities and Historical Heritage”, since 2020. Teaching Spanish contemporary culture to non-Spaniards in Arcadia is an interesting complement to her main occupation: teaching English literature and culture to Spaniards.
