An Education Psychologist, Dr Simos oversees several areas of the Athens program including Experiential Education and Student Services and welcomes students on their journey, ensuring they enjoy a rich experience abroad according to their distinct interests and academic goals.

A Faculty Associate since 2010, she teaches courses in Intercultural Studies, Psychology, Work Based Learning and Social Research and manages the Athens Internship Program, for which the Arcadia Center received the 2018 ‘recognition of excellence in academia’ national education research institute award for shaping the Greek internship landscape and offering value added experiences for interning abroad.

A double Ph.D, Simos has been awarded the UK NOCN ‘Working with Young People; Counseling and Mentoring’ award and is a weekly volunteer for the national suicide prevention helpline.

With a passion for Education research and social inclusion, her works have included studies in the areas of Displacement and Applied Pedagogy in South India, Lifelong Learning in Nepal and her posting as Editor for the Social Sciences Journal.

Joanna lives in Athens with her family and enjoys the Mediterranean sea - whether scuba diving or surfing - at every opportunity.
