Helena Aleluya Jose is a multidisciplinary student from Luanda, Angola, double majoring in Theatre and Computer Science with minors in Creative Writing and African & African American Studies at Earlham College. She studied abroad in London through Arcadia Abroad, where she deepened her passion for performance, storytelling, and intercultural exchange, experiences that continue to shape both her artistic and academic work.
During her time abroad, Helena explored the intersection of culture and social justice through theater, while immersing herself in British history and the vibrant London arts scene. She also visited powerful exhibitions on colonialism and representation, inspiring her to write new work centered on reclaiming African narratives.
Beyond the classroom, Helena is a writer, performer, and community builder. She founded the African Student Association at her college and recently had her original play selected as a finalist for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Whether on stage or in conversation, Helena believes in the transformative power of storytelling and is passionate about supporting other students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, as they consider their own journeys abroad
