The United Nations (UN) in Rome
Rome is home to many agencies operating under the umbrella of the United Nations. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the UN headquarters, learn about the agencies working in sustainable development and food security. The meetings aim at discussing the 17 goals adopted by all United Nations member States and the 2030 agenda.
Your voluntary support will help a local organization involved in providing food, clothes and other services to marginalized people. You can help to distribute hot meals, participate to the weekly scheduled food donations and help out at a food bank supermarket collection encouraging people to donate.
Urban Farming in Garbatella
Would you like to learn about food and sustainability with a hands-on experience? This is possible in Rome. Being part of the community of Garbatella means that you’ll learn how to create initiatives involving locals, enhance the spirit of belonging to a community and create cohesion AND learn Italian through the interaction with the residents of the neighborhood.
The Family Project
Students become part of Italian host families where they will be tutoring in English for two or more hours per week, generally after kids get out from school and into dinnertime. This can be an opportunity to learn Italian and gain an enhanced understanding of the Italian culture.
