Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 Arcadia Programs

Is Arcadia still planning to run summer and fall programs this year?

Summer 2020 Arcadia Programs

Yes, we are currently offering two online programs (courses and internships) for summer 2020. For an updated list of our summer 2020 options, please visit our Arcadia Summer Programs 2020 page.

Fall 2020 Arcadia Programs

In addition to a wide choice of overseas partner university programs, Arcadia Abroad has some innovative and exciting opportunities to get you studying, exploring, and engaging with the various communities of your new host country. Learn more about our FALL 2020 ARCADIA ABROAD PROMISE.

Given the continuing challenges related to the COVID-19 situation around the world, The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University has decided to suspend the following programs for Fall 2020:

We also plan to offer all of our semester and summer programs again in 2021.

In the event of any additional program changes, we will notify students and advisors with specific information.

If my program has been cancelled for summer or fall 2020, are there still options for me to go abroad?

Yes. Students interested in summer programs will have the option of either participating in one of our online summer 2020 programs (Virtual Europe or Intern Philly.), or deferring their current application to summer 2021. Additionally, they may apply to one of our fall or spring semester programs.

For fall, most Arcadia Abroad programs in the Northern Hemisphere, as well as Bond University and University of New South Wales in Australia are currently scheduled to operate in fall 2020.

For more options, please visit our updated Summer programs page, or use our Program Finder to learn more about all Arcadia Abroad programs.

Have the summer and fall application deadlines been extended?

Many of our application deadlines have been extended for Fall 2020. Please see this list for Fall 2020 programs with new deadlines. We now have two programs running for Summer 2020 that will be delivered online. Please see the dates and deadlines for Virtual Europe and Intern Philly for full details. As you explore our fall program offerings, you’ll find all application deadlines on the individual program pages.

Application and Financial Questions

If I defer my summer or fall 2020 application to a future semester or summer term (i.e. summer 2021), what happens to my program deposit?

If you have already paid your deposit and choose to defer your application to a future term, your deposit will be applied to that term.

If you decide to withdraw your deferred application by the following deadlines, Arcadia will refund your deposit (this only applies to deferred applications from cancelled programs for Summer or Fall 2020).

  • September 1, 2020 -- for 2021 Spring Northern Hemisphere programs
  • November 1, 2020 -- for 2021 Spring Southern Hemisphere programs
  • February 1, 2021 -- for 2021 Summer programs

If my 2020 program hasn’t been cancelled, or I choose to enroll in another 2020 program, but my home school has suspended study abroad programs, what are my options?

This will be dependent on your home school’s policies. Some institutions may allow you to go abroad with us independently, but some won’t. We deeply value our U.S. college and university partnerships and want to make sure that we all work together to provide summer options to students while supporting our institutional partners’ policies.

If my summer or fall 2020 program is cancelled and I paid my deposit, will I get a refund?

If your program has been suspended or canceled on or before your program start date, and you have confirmed your participation, you have options:

  • You can choose to participate in another program in a different location or defer your program to a different term, same location. Your deposit, scholarshipsn and grants will move with you.
  • If you decide not to change to another program and would prefer not to study abroad with us, your program fee, including your deposit, is fully refundable as outlined in our refund and withdrawal policies.

I’ve applied for, or am planning to apply for, a fall program but am unsure about confirming my participation and paying my deposit. What is the refund policy?

Arcadia understands that the fluid nature of the current COVID-19 pandemic is making many students nervous about confirming their plans for study abroad in summer or fall 2020. While we continue to follow our normal program deposit and financial policies, we recognize that the current extraordinary circumstances require us to provide students and their families with some additional peace of mind during uncertain times.

Therefore, we will refund program deposits to students who withdraw their fall application prior to the deadlines listed below:

What should I do about purchasing an airline ticket for a summer or fall 2020 Arcadia program?

Due to the fluid nature of the COVID-19 situation, we strongly encourage students not to make a flight reservation until instructed to do so. Arcadia will send an update to students when we have determined that it is advisable to move forward with their flight planning. If you choose to make flight arrangements earlier, we would recommend that you purchase flights that are fully refundable or changeable.

Health and Safety Considerations

What is Arcadia’s approach to health, safety, and security?

Arcadia has full-time resident staff in each country and a Health and Safety team that provides 24/7 support for all of our students. They work closely with our host university partners and other members of our U.S. based team to help ensure the health, safety, and security of Arcadia program participants.
