Safety as a core value

Arcadia Abroad remains committed to our mission of providing impactful global experiences to our students in a safe and responsible manner. It is one of our core values that is even more critical today as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

To achieve our mission, we must work to identify new opportunities for students, remain nimble in our approach and make complicated, and often difficult decisions.

Our Leadership and Crisis Management Teams remain engaged in an ongoing extensive review of conditions in all of the locations in which we operate as they relate to the pandemic and our ability to support students towards a safe and successful term abroad. This ongoing review may result in additional changes to our portfolio as we aim to provide every possible opportunity for students to study abroad.

Term Specific Updates:

Summer '21    |    Fall & AY '21    |    Spring & AYSH '22

As additional changes are made, we will list the updates here and our staff will reach out to current applicants directly impacted to discuss their options, including selecting an alternative program from a curated list of offerings based on the student’s academic needs, personal interests, and home university approval.

Health, Safety and Security Questions:

Our Health and Safety team in the U.S., along with our resident directors and on-site staff, are closely monitoring the conditions in each of our host countries as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves. Arcadia will only move forward with on-site programs when it is reasonable to do so and with consideration of how conditions may change during the term. Our considerations include:

  • The ability for free movement in and out of the host country, as well as resumption of predictable flights
  • Status of community transmission of COVID-19, availability of testing, and contact tracing
  • Availability of routine and emergency healthcare services
  • Local governmental plans, recommendations and and progress toward reopening in each country
  • In-country efforts to mitigate spread, including local restrictions and recommendations
  • Government advisories and advice from our security assistance company, International SOS

Our ability to promote student well-being relies as much on your actions as it does on our preparedness. Your ability and willingness to be flexible and act as a responsible, socially-conscious global citizen is required for a successful experience more than ever.

When participating in a program on-site, you will be expected to:

  • Immediately report to Arcadia staff if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 or are exhibiting symptoms, and stay home from class or program activities.
  • Practice social distancing at all times.
  • Carry and wear a mask as required or recommended.
  • Comply with all local laws or restrictions that may be introduced in relation to COVID-19.

Our program managers and Health and Safety Team are available to provide additional support if you or members of your family have questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with your concerns.
