Matthew Clear, Ph.D

Matthew John Clear is an art historian, researcher, professor, and lecturer. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Sussex with a dissertation entitled"Power, Piety and Patronage in the Mediterranean: Sancia of Majorca (1286-1345) Queen of Sicily, Provence and Jerusalem". He holds a Masters in Combined Historical Studies (the Renaissance) from The Warburg Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies and History of Art & Architecture from the University of Reading. He has served as a professor of Art History at the University of Sussex and at ENEP Aragón, Mexico State University. He is the co-author and primary researcher of the highly regarded coffee-table book "30,000 Years of Art: The story of human creativity across time and space" from Phaidon Press Ltd.
