Born in Northern Spain, Marisa Torres has developed most of her artistic career in New York City, where she has lived and worked for more than thirteen years. She is a multidisciplinary artist, working in drawing, installation and photography. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, the US, Denmark, Australia and South Korea, among others, and reviewed in catalogues and international publications. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute, New York (2000) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Universidad Complutense in Madrid (1995). Before starting graduate school in the US, she spent two years in Canada where she completed her training in photography at the University of Alberta. She is the recipient of several grants and fellowships and has been an artist-in-residence at the Fondazione Ratti (Como, Italy), Vermont Studio Center (Vermont, USA) and NUCLEO Kunstenaars (Ghent, Belgium) among other organizations. Since 2013, Marisa has been teaching Digital Photography and Studio Art at several American Study Abroad programs in Barcelona. In 2017, she became a visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts (KASK – Hogeschool) in Ghent, Belgium.
