This weekend, from 26th to 27th of October, arrive the 48 hours Open House Bcn to the city. This festival is part of “Open House WorldWide”, an international organization focused in the promotion and diffusion of the architecture. The first year that Barcelona celebrated this festival was in 2010, and it was a fully success.
This two-day citywide open house is when you get access to more than 150 different buildings in all of Barcelona's districts. You can book in advance the visits and they can be guided or not, whatever modality you choose, they are all free. This year you will also find buildings in this other areas as Hospitalet del Llobregat, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Sant Joan Despí and Vilassar de Mar.
This festival it's all about architecture appreciation and learning about the city's history through its ruins and buildings, but there are also related activities (at around 240) and tours you can pick and choose.
The main subject of this edition is Women Architects and we will have the pleasure to know deeply about Pilar Casas Mur, the youngest female architect from Barcelona.
So, if you have free time this weekend and you want to discover a bit more of Barcelona, here you have the best festival in order to get inside our history, both the most current and the oldest.
