North Stradbroke Island, colloquially Straddie, is an island that lies within Moreton Bay, 30 kilometres (19 miles) southeast of Brisbane. Straddie is the second largest sand island in the world and gives many opportunities for recreation along its coast line and on its lakes. You will learn a traditional aboriginal dance, how to throw a boomerang, will spend some time in a kayak exploring the coast and keeping an eye out for stingrays, turtles and fish, and have some fun sand-boarding and surfing as well as going to some scenic spots.

This artist-led session with step by step instruction and plenty of room for your own personalised touches, will have even the self-proclaimed ‘non creatives’ creating a masterpiece to take home. Come and give back to the people who look out for you when you’re at the beach! Queensland Lifesavers do amazing, often voluntary, work to keep beaches safe. This important organisation relies on volunteers and fundraising to keep going. You will help out raising funds by selling merchandise. It’s a great way to get involved and give back to your local community.
