We have some fantastic co-curricular activities planned for the upcoming Fall semester for all of the Melbourne University students – here’s a list of what’s on offer in your program!
This is an opportunity to meet your Australian Student Services staff member properly, socialise with your fellow study-abroad students, and start your semester off with a nice (free!) meal.
Arcadia offers coffee-catch up dates with your local student services staff member, so you can explore the best on-campus coffee houses. Take the opportunity to chat about any issues you might have, or ask your staff member for advice about the city of Melbourne. These coffee catch-ups will occur twice or so throughout the semester.
The Grampians Excursion is a fun introduction to the Australian bush for Arcadia students, giving you the opportunity to engage in a range of activities, such as hiking, abseiling and rock-climbing, as well as receive a valuable education of the geographic and indigenous history of the area. Two Arcadia staff members will take you on a three-day weekend to Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park during September, halfway through the semester. It’s a great opportunity to keep up with your other Arcadia study-abroad students, and explore the Australian bush.
This excursion is a chance to get to know your local Arcadia coordinator better, but also the chance to experience aspects of Melbourne that locals love. Past day trips have included a trip to the Mornington Peninsula, hiking the local ranges, a relaxing day at a Hot Springs, visiting the fairy penguins at St Kilda Pier, kayaking the Yarra River and street art tours of the central city area. More information will be shared when we meet in Melbourne.
After the mid-semester break, when the Melbourne weather is starting to heat up, come down to the beach and help keep your temporary home’s beaches free from rubbish. The event includes sunshine and sand, as well as a free ice-cream for your troubles.
Celebrate and remember the good times you’ve had throughout your semester abroad with a (FREE!) Closing Dinner. Take the opportunity to share stories from the semester, and debate who had the best travel stories or the funniest Australian experiences
