Arcadia Abroad will require proof of full vaccination prior to departure for all program participants, once the FDA approves at least one COVID vaccine.

Based on the most recent information and indicators about COVID vaccine safety, efficacy, and availability, and given the current application by Pfizer for full FDA approval, Arcadia University has recently announced that the best path for a safe return to full student and campus engagement in the fall is to maximize the percentage of its campus members who are fully vaccinated. Effective immediately, Arcadia Abroad has adopted this approach for our program participants.

As soon as the FDA fully approves at least one of the current vaccines, Arcadia Abroad intends to require proof of full vaccination prior to departure for all program participants. Once approval occurs, proof of vaccination from any vaccine that has full or emergency approval from the FDA will be acceptable. For individuals receiving vaccinations other than those available in the United States, we will accept COVID vaccines that are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or any governing regulatory body. Some of our overseas partners are requiring vaccination for Fall semester participation, and in those instances we are advising students to adhere to program requirements. Students who are fully vaccinated should upload their vaccine record to Arcadia Abroad’s Application Portal

We continue to strongly encourage that students get vaccinated prior to participating in their program for the Fall but will not require a vaccination. Given that FDA approval is anticipated within the next 6 months, Spring semester participants should expect that vaccinations will be required.

Exceptions will be granted based on reasonable health and religious grounds. Students who are granted an exemption will be required to participate in, and comply with, all Arcadia Abroad and local mitigation efforts that are in place at any particular time. Spring students requesting an exemption will be able to do so via the immunization form in the application portal. They should expect a member of the Health and Safety Team to contact them for supporting documentation. Regardless of vaccine status, all students will continue to be subject to any local mitigation measures required throughout their time with us.

Students will be able to access additional information in their application portal and are encouraged to be in touch with their program manager if they have questions.

Extremely high vaccination rates in our summer participants has afforded current cohorts more group activities and in-person events, making their time abroad all the richer. We are excited to continue welcoming students on our programs and, with help in part by this vaccination policy, continue to uphold our mission and values and stewardship of responsible travel.
