Located in one of the most historically rich areas of the city, along the harbor inlet, the Golden Horn, Kadir Has University (KHU) offers a study experience like no other. The university was established in 1997 as a center of academic and cultural excellence in Turkey, based in Istanbul with three campuses. As an Arcadia student, you will study at the Cibali Campus, which won the Europa Nostra Award in 2003 for the beautiful restoration of an historical place and offers stunning views of the Golden Horn harbor, and the Asian side of the city.
The university has six areas of study - Engineering, Sciences and Humanities, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Communication, Law, and Fine Arts – as well as several vocational schools. KHU has earned an international reputation as a center for research and scientific excellence. Except for law, all classes are taught in English.
The unique main building of the Kadir Has University consists of four components, or layers - one on top of the other: a Byzantine cistern dating back to the 11th century; ruins of a historical hammam (Turkish bath) belonging to the Ottoman Empire; and the former Cibali Tobacco Factory in which the university is based was built in late 19th century.
