Arcadia in Granada Courses

Your Spanish language courses will be determined by your level of fluency. Final course enrollment will be confirmed after your placement exam during orientation in Granada.

  • Make sure your credits transfer back for credit with your home school – this is your responsibility.
  • Please be flexible about courses – we can’t guarantee placement in specific courses.
  • Please review your course choices with your academic or study abroad advisor, and submit the online course registration form to The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University.

Optional Pre-Session

  • This course is appropriate for students at any level of Spanish proficiency. It is an excellent opportunity for students on the cusp of pursuing a more advanced program track to increase their proficiency.
  • Students enroll in an optional one-month, intensive three-credit language course (Short Term Programs – CILE). The specific level of this language course will be determined by a placement exam taken in Granada.
  • This course takes place prior to the start of the regular semester and involves additional tuition and housing fees.

Environmental Studies Track

  • This program track is appropriate for students at any level of Spanish proficiency.
  • Students pursue an intensive 4-credit language course at the CLM (Quarter Programs – CELE).  The specific level of this language course will be determined by a placement exam taken during the program orientation.
  • Students pursue four 3-credit electives from the Arcadia in Granada offerings in English (see below) and the CLM offerings in English or Spanish (Semester Programs – CLCE).

Beginner Spanish Track

  • This program track is appropriate for students who have completed zero to three courses of college level Spanish or the equivalent.
  • Students take Speaking and Writing Skills (3-credits) and Spanish Grammar (3-credits). The specific level of these language courses will be determined by a placement exam taken during the program orientation.
  • Students pursue three 3-credit electives from the Arcadia in Granada offerings in English (see below) and the CLM offerings in English (Semester Programs – CLCE).

Intermediate Spanish Track

  • This program track is appropriate for students who have completed four to five courses of college level Spanish or the equivalent.
  • Students take Speaking and Writing Skills (3-credits) and Spanish Grammar (3-credits). The specific level of these language courses will be determined by a placement exam taken during the program orientation.
  • Students pursue three 3-credit electives from the Arcadia in Granada offerings in English (see below) and the CLM offerings in English and Spanish (Semester Programs – CLCE).

Advanced Spanish Track

  • This program track is appropriate for students who have completed six or more courses of college level Spanish or the equivalent.
  • Students take Speaking and Writing Skills (3-credits). The specific level of this language course will be determined by a placement exam taken during the program orientation.
  • Students pursue four 3-credit electives from the Arcadia in Granada offerings in English (see below) and the CLM offerings in Spanish (Semester Programs – CEH).
  • Students pursuing their full course load at the CLM can choose to pursue a 45-hour internship program. This course includes a 15-hour academic seminar to reflect on the experience with your instructor.

Elective Courses

Elective courses are offered at the Arcadia Granada Center, and are open to all students on the Arcadia in Granada program.
