Explore globalization from a European perspective

This exciting program offers you the opportunity to study through English in one of he most popular and cosmopolitan study abroad destinations. By using Barcelona, Spain, as your classroom, you'll explore local, regional, national and international issues by examining cultural, political, social and historical aspects of this intriguing location and its people.

You'll choose one cornerstone course from a choice of three:

  • Rags to Riches: The Transformation of Barcelona - explore how the city has developed in recent decades, and become one of the most popular destinations in Europe; looking at social, cultural, economic and political factors.
  • The Resurgence of Nationalism in Europe - What does patriotism mean in Spain and could it be described as a multinational state? How do issues of identity, heritage and political power impact modern, globalized countries? (available for Spring only)
  • Gastronomy and Culture in Spain - Enjoy a detailed examination of Spanish regional food and culture and explore how they reflect and advance societal development.

The experience is one I will never forget. I have learned so much about myself and about the Spanish culture. I will surely return many times. ”
