University College London's tradition of small group teaching will encourage your academic growth and inspire you to delve into your subject material. Additionally, you'll enjoy the support of a departmental tutor who has experience working with visiting students and will be available to help you with any academic concerns. Most classes are taught lecture style and are complemented by a discussion group, tutorial, or lab.
If you're interested in fine arts, a number of places are available for visiting students at UCL's prestigious Slade School of Fine Art. You can apply to take courses in fine art, drawing, painting, or theater design, or you can choose to participate in the independent studio program. A slide portfolio is required for application to the Independent Studio Program. An additional course fee applies if you attend the Slade School. Contact your program manager at Arcadia University for more details about the Slade School's entry requirements and subject offerings.
Outside of class, you'll find a lively campus environment at UCL. Through the College's large Students' Union, the UCL Union, you can join any of more than 160 cultural, sports and arts clubs and societies. The Union is also home to restaurants, pubs, shops and many services that simply make life more convenient for students. If you have a bent for acting, UCL maintains the Bloomsbury Theater, its own semi-professional theater. Students who join the College's performing arts societies enjoy the chance to perform at the Bloomsbury. For the athletically inclined, UCL's sports facilities include a fitness center and a sports ground that accommodates soccer, rugby, hockey and cricket.
Additionally, you'll benefit from UCL's membership in the University of London system, which is made up of more than 50 colleges and institutes throughout London. As a student who attends a member college, you can use the libraries and facilities of most member colleges or institutes. You'll be welcome to use the system-wide University of London Student Central. In addition to bars, restaurants and an entertainment venue that attracts major bands and comedy acts, you'll find the union equipped with shops, a fitness center and weights room, health spa, squash and badminton courts, and swimming pool. Student Central provides additional opportunities to meet and socialize with students from the many colleges and institutes that make up the University of London system.
