A Day in the Life Of...
Follow along with Pre-Health student, Alyssa, as she explores London and documents her study abroad experience through Arcadia blogs.
On the Pre-Health Program, you’ll explore multicultural dimensions of healthcare delivery, along with the history of medicine, comparative health systems and socialized medicine while also taking compulsory science courses and laboratory classes through Arcadia’s prestigious academic partner institution, Queen Mary University of London. You will consider aspects of medicine, ethics and healthcare delivery in the development of the UK health system, with laboratory work and electives from a wide range of courses. If you plan to pursue a career in healthcare, this is a great program option.
You’ll take the Arcadia core course Health, Medicine & Society: A British Perspective (4 credits), choose one elective from Arcadia’s London Now program (4 credits), and two science courses geared toward Junior and Senior level students to be taken at Queen Mary University of London (4 credits each). This program also gives students access to modules not typically available to most study abroad students.
You’ll be able to complete a discipline specific Co-curricular Learning Certificate (CLC) as part of the experiential education component to this program. These CLC opportunities include considering the role of the National Health Service and how the various constituent communities, such as immigrants and veterans, interact with a socialized health care system—or, design your own CLC with the help of our Arcadia London Center staff!
An optional preparatory course for the MCAT is available, along with an opportunity to take the exam in London.
