In 2012 The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University began an academic collaboration with the prestigious University of Havana, and its Center for Hemispheric and U.S. Studies. Together, we offer two different programs covering fall and spring semesters and summer terms, each designed to give U.S. students a unique and meaningful program of study both inside and outside the classroom. Arcadia University is the only U.S. university to send U.S. students to study abroad in Cuba year-round: offering fall, spring and summer programs.
Arcadia has a student residence located in the Vedado area of Havana, a 25-minute walk to the main campus of the University of Havana, and approximately a 10-minute ride using public transportation to the Center for Hemispheric Studies, where semester program students take their Cornerstone course. Our Resident Director’s office and living accommodation is located a few blocks from the students' residence.
The University of Havana, founded in 1728, is Cuba's premier institution of higher education with 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 15 major departments in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. As the largest and most renowned university in Cuba, the University of Havana offers some of the best learning opportunities to U.S. students together with Cuban students.
Our Resident Director in Cuba, Angelica Salazar, drives all our programing, institutional relations, in-country health & safety, orientation and support for students in Cuba.
