Recognized as a world leader, the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) offers intensive study and studio time for students pursuing degrees in the fine and performing arts. A separate faculty of the University of Melbourne, the VCA is located in the heart of Melbourne's arts precinct, close to the National Gallery of Victoria and the Australian Center for Contemporary Art.
VCA programs on offer to Arcadia students include animation, contemporary music, dance, film and television, production, screenwriting, and visual art. In addition to the VCA, a range of musical specializations are offered by the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM). Your studies will be complemented with a course in the innovative Center for Ideas, which encourages students to consider artistic questions within larger social, political and cultural contexts.
This is an ideal setting for an aspiring artist: You'll have your own studio or rehearsal space, and will likely find yourself spending a lot of time studying and working with Australians who have similar interests to you. You'll will also find that the classroom merges into the art world. Often, your instructors will be working professionals; visiting lecturers will be prominent members of the international art community; and innovative issues, such as art business and marketing and collaborating with fellow artists will be explored.
