Arcadia University's priority is to accommodate you in a place that will support your studies and enable you to experience the local culture. As you review details on individual residential colleges, please be sure to read the general Australia accommodation information.
Accommodation at residential colleges at RMIT University is very competitive. A limited number of spaces are available for Arcadia students. Students applying to live in a residential college should do so with the goal of becoming a part of the residential college community, as social involvement is key to a successful semester and is expected of all residents.
Most students will be housed in student apartments in the recently refurbished Arcadia Melbourne Center. The core house and grounds preserve a large family residence in a conservation district, part of Melbourne's early 20th century expansion from downtown-based to beach-side communities. The Center is located in the coastal neighborhood of St. Kilda, popular among students, young professionals, artists and tourists due its beaches, theaters and festivals. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops within walking distance and the area is well served by bus and tram routes. Your commute between St. Kilda and campus will be 30-45 minutes via the tram service. There are three tramlines that run from St. Kilda to Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD). For more information, review the fares and timetables of the tramlines.
You will be accommodated in single bedrooms and share bathroom facilities with other residents. All bedrooms are supplied with linen and students have access to free Wi-Fi. Along with a dining room, study room and lounge, the Center has a large, modern kitchen where you will prepare your meals. You can also use laundry facilities on site.
Arcadia's administrative offices are also located in the Center, and our friendly, enthusiastic staff plans programming that involves students in the surrounding community and in the cultural life of greater Melbourne.
Additional housing may be arranged as needed and we will aim to provide similar locations and accommodation types as our regular accommodations. If additional housing is necessary we will be in touch with students. Please note that while we ensure all housing satisfies general standards, there is no way to guarantee uniformity of apartment and room sizes, distance from university, furnishings or facilities.
