Choosing Your Courses

Refer to the credit translation scale below when selecting your courses:

Australian University Credit Point Units U.S. University Semester Hours of Credit
2 2.5
3 4
4 5
5 6.5
6 8

Include at least 8-10 courses on your Preliminary Course Form. When selecting your courses:

  • Select the appropriate faculty from the schedule of majors.
  • Choose the unit code and title for more detailed information, including the unit description and when the unit is offered (S1 = US Spring semester; S2 = US Fall semester)
  • When searching for unit outlines (syllabi), go to the Unit Guide and search for the PDF found at the 'Print Version' link of each unit.

Course Approval

  • Macquarie will review your course form for approval.
  • Your Program Manager will email your approved subjects
    • These are included in your official Macquarie Offer Letter.
  • Macquarie will contact you directly with instructions on how to enroll in your courses online.
    • This will take place approximately two weeks prior to departure.

Special Nomenclature

When selecting your courses, you should be aware of some differences in terminology:

Enrollment Process

Course approvals will be listed in your online student portal. You will receive an email directly from Macquarie with instructions on how to enroll in your courses and finalize your timetable through your student portal. If you have any difficulties with this process you can seek enrollment assistance during Orientation Week at Macquarie.

Bring an updated copy of your official transcript, your passport and COE with you to final registration orientation.

The preliminary course form you submit to Arcadia prior to departure does not guarantee approval or enrollment in those courses. There is a drop/add period at the beginning of each semester that allows students to make changes to course enrollments. If you make any changes it is your responsibility to inform your home institution.

Miscellaneous/Fees

Additional course fees may be associated with some of your overseas course work (i.e. courses that include laboratory work, field excursions or theater trips).
