At the Australian National University (ANU) all of our students live in residential colleges or halls of residence. These colleges and halls foster a strong sense of community. As part of this community you will be able to take part in social events, join is sporting teams and participate in many organized activities. There are fifteen residences in total at the ANU and we have listed two of our most popular housing choices below.

Please note that the ANU Accommodation Service Office assigns all new and international students to accommodation. The accommodation service will only review your first housing preference. If this option is not available then they will work to find you another option that is most similar in terms of price, amenities and lifestyle choice.

As you review information on individual residential colleges please be sure to read the general Australia accommodation information.

Catered Housing

Bruce Hall

Bruce Hall is home to just over 300 students from all over the world. Bruce Hall was the first undergraduate residence to be built at the ANU in 1961 and as such it holds a strong tradition in academic leadership, sporting prowess and an active alumni group. Students are encouraged to become involved in the sporting teams, debating and theatrical groups as well as the regular formal dinners where Bruce Hall plays hosts to guest speakers from local parliament, leadership, big business and NGO's.

Students for the 2017 and 2018 calendar year will be housed in the brand new state of the art residence at corner of Daly and Dickson road. The building offers students brand new single bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities, lounge areas, study rooms, laundry facilities as well as a dinning hall. The dinning hall is where most new friendships are made and provides a fabulous opportunity to meet new people in a relaxed setting. The dining hall is open 7 days a week and provides students with 3 meals a day.

Self Catered Housing

Burton and Garran Hall (B & G)

Burton and Garren Hall is the largest accommodation option at ANU with 510 students. It is the perfect option for students who like their independence and would prefer to prepare their own meals. Each student is assigned to a kitchen bay and given their own lockable cupboard, and fridge space. At Burton and Garren the kitchen areas become the social hub. With so many students at Burton and Garren there is always something to do and someone to do it with. Students will be invited to participate in a wide variety of academic, cultural and social events and the yearly musical is always a highlight. Students will be housed in single rooms with shared facilities.

Note: if these two housing options do not appeal to you then please speak to your Arcadia representative.
