Maria Michou

Lecturer, Athens Center

Maria Michou was born and raised in Athens. She earned her MA in Architecture and Cultural Studies at Oxford Brookes University and also studied at the School of Architecture at the University College London, The Bartlett School of Architecture and at the Kent Institute of Art & Design, School of Architecture. She has worked on renovations and new commercial constructions as well as private homes, and is currently supervising the extension of a private polykatoikia (a block of flats) in downtown Athens. For Michou architecture is lived experience; she focuses her commissioned and study projects on dynamic spaces that are places which people use, desire and remember. These designs shape and are shaped by the culture of their particular location.
