Laura Cervi obtained her Ph.D. in 2006 Political Science at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain under the auspices of the Università degli Studi di Pavia, Italy. Her degree in Political Science is also from the Università degli Studi de Pavia. She attended her final doctorate year at Columbia University, New York. In addition to her work with Arcadia University in Spain, she serves as an Associate Professor at UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona) where she leads Ph.D. and Master level courses, such as"Social Effects of Political Communication", "Nationalism and politics," "Political Communication, Mass Communication Structure II and Public Opinion" and others. Her research interests cover political communication, nationalism, new technology and new forms of political participation. The European Commission finances the research projects on which she works. Dr. Cervi's present project is entitled "MEDRES, Active Citizenship and Participation through Media Literacy in the EU". In 2007 she completed a research project entitled "Current trends and approaches to media literacy in Europe."
