Dr. David Larsen – A Lifetime in Support of Education Abroad

1960s

Instrumental in opening and broadening of Study Abroad into Semester timeframes.


1972

Fulbright Fellowship to teach English Literature in Thessaloniki, Greece. Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Larsen was appointed Executive Director of the U.S. Educational Foundation in Greece (the Fulbright Program) and served in the Athens office from 1976–1980.


1980

Joined Institute of International Education in New York


1988

Joined Arcadia University as Director of its Center for Education Abroad


2000

Founding member of the Forum on Education Abroad


2003

Recipient of the SECUSSA Education Abroad Leadership Award. Award now made at the NAFSA annual conference.


2005

Became a Member of NAFSA Board of Directors, where he chaired the Development Committee, and remained until 2007.


2008

Recipient of the Peter A. Wollitzer Advocacy Award from the Forum on Education Abroad

Creation of David C, Larsen Endowed Scholarship for International Education established by Arcadia University upon Dr. Larsen’s retirement.

Recipient of Charles Klasek Award from the Association of International Administrators

Recipient of W. LaMarr Kopp Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Council for International Education
